How the line is actually organised
There are three layers. The first is Intense Man and its formats, which is the reason the line exists and accounts for most of what people mean when they say Club de Nuit. The second is the flanker layer: separate fragrances sharing the name and the bottle shape but not the scent, covering fresh, sweet, dark and feminine directions. The third is the Private Key collection, positioned as a premium tier at £130.00 a bottle.
Formats within that first layer are not a simple strength ladder either. They differ in character as much as in concentration, which is covered further down.
Tier one: buy without hesitating
Club de Nuit Intense Man
The benchmark. Smoky pineapple over dry woods, enormous projection in cold air, six to eight hours on skin. The EDT 105ml at £26.99 is the original reading and the EDP 200ml at £47.99 is the value pick. It is a poor summer fragrance and it is worn by a great many people, both of which are worth knowing before you commit.
Club de Nuit Sillage
The most underrated bottle in the line. Fresh, fruity and blackcurrant-led with real sweetness behind it, and considerably easier to wear in mild weather than the Intense. The 105ml at £33.99 is the sensible size, and the 10ml at £12.00 is the cheapest way to test it.
Tier two: excellent for the right person
Club de Nuit Milestone
The summer pick. Melon, citrus and a salty marine impression, bright and clean where the Intense is heavy. It is thinner than its stablemates and does not project as far, which is exactly what you want in July. The 105ml at £29.99 is the one to own, with a 10ml at £13.00 for testing.
Club de Nuit Blue Iconic
The darkest thing in the line and the best evening option that is not Intense Man. Dry, slightly incense-tinged and heavy, with strong projection. Available as a 105ml at £35.99 or a 200ml at £65.00. It is too much for daytime and unsuited to warm weather.
Club de Nuit Woman
The strongest women's release in the line, built on bright orange over patchouli. The 200ml at £48.00 is an unusual amount of perfume for the money, and the 70ml extrait de parfum at £45.00 is the warmer, quieter evening version rather than a stronger one.
Club de Nuit Urban Man Elixir
The cheapest full-size bottle in the line at £24.25. Warmer and spicier than the rest, with decent performance and no particular ambition. Urban Man Elixir 105ml is the one to reach for if you want a Club de Nuit without spending much.
Tier three: only if you want the specific thing
Club de Nuit Untold
Extremely sweet, saffron-and-amber heavy, and genuinely divisive. People who like it wear little else; people who do not find it cloying within an hour. At £75.00 the 200ml is a serious commitment, so the 10ml at £12.00 exists for a reason. Try before you commit.
The women's flankers
White Imperiale 200ml at £65.00 is the clean, formal, white-floral option. Maleka 105ml at £45.00 is the richest and most oriental. Lion Heart Woman 100ml at £35.00 is the most casual. Precieux IV 55ml at £46.99 is the most niche-leaning and the least widely discussed. All four are good; none is essential.
Club de Nuit Intense Woman
Dark rose and sweet amber, evening-weighted. Listed here only as a 10ml travel size at £9.00, which for a heavy occasional fragrance is arguably the right size anyway.
Tier four: hard to justify
The Private Key collection sits at £130.00 a bottle. Private Key to My Success 105ml is the best known of the four, alongside Private Key to My Life, Dreams and Soul. They are more ambitious than the rest of the line and better presented.
The problem is arithmetic. At £130.00 you are no longer competing with high-street designers, you are competing with entry-level niche, and in that company these are decent rather than remarkable. The house's real strength is delivering eighty per cent of an expensive fragrance for fifteen per cent of the price. Spend £130.00 and that logic disappears.

The format trap
Intense Man alone comes in an EDT, two sizes of EDP, a pure perfume, a limited edition parfum, an elixir travel spray, a perfume oil and a body spray. The names imply a strength ladder. They do not deliver one.
The Pure Perfume 150ml at £44.99 is denser and smokier, best for winter evenings. The Limited Edition Pure Parfum 105ml at £72.99 is the most expensive version and the least necessary for most people. The Elixir 10ml at £14.00 is a sweeter reading rather than a miniature of the original, and the perfume oil at £16.00 is the quiet office-friendly one.
Sets, and whether they make sense
Sets are the efficient way into the line if you do not yet know which direction suits you. The Club de Nuit Signature Collection four-piece at £98.00 and the Man Signature Collection four-piece at £109.00 both cover several styles at once. For a single fragrance with an extra piece, the Intense Man duo with the 200ml EDP and 250ml body spray at £59.00 is the strongest value in the group.
What the range gets wrong
Too many releases, too little signposting. Nothing on the packaging tells a shopper that Milestone and Intense Man have nothing in common, and buyers get caught out by it constantly.
Batch variation across the board. Strength and the sharpness of the opening differ between production runs on every fragrance in the line. There is no way to check before spraying.
The premium tier does not work. £130.00 asks the house to compete on refinement, which is the one thing it is not built to do.
The drydowns are the weak point. Almost everything here is excellent for three hours and ordinary afterwards. That is the honest trade at these prices.
